04/11/2012 - 2011-2012 HOT Season In Review
2011-2012 HOT Season In-review:
Now that our competitive season has been completed, the HOT coaching staff would like to take the time to review this season and how it has shown us the most overall growth in our athletes than any other season past! Not only have our athletes acquired new skills in areas such as, tumbling, jumps, dance, and stunts; they have all gained a stronger sense of confidence within themselves and their teams. Our program chose to compete at competitions where we were amongst much larger programs; most of which are world renowned. And our “small gym” held its own, and continued to make a name in the industry!
We acknowledge that you as parents have chosen us to be your children’s coaches, but more importantly role models and mentors. The coaching staff is humbled to reflect on the opportunity we have had to make a profound difference in your child’s life. Our program focuses on teaching the skills needed to be an effective cheerleader, but we also pride ourselves in teaching more than that. We enjoy the life lessons we can impart on the athletes while being at our facility; sense of family, gym loyalty, teamwork, and pride are a few aspects our athletes gain that aren’t typically picked up at larger programs.
A few highlights from this season include:
• Cheer for Charity-Our program has continued to raise money for the American Cancer Society by participating in a showcase of cheer and dance routines.
• Relay for life – for our 2nd year in a row, we participated in this event to show our support and help raise even more money for the American Cancer Society.
• National Champions – We have had multiple teams awarded National Champions this past season…some of which won more than once!
• High point winners – Our Mini 1 team was the highest scoring team at the CheerSport Competition! Senior Coed 3 high point at Spirit Celebration Fall Championship and Christmas Classic
• World bid winners – Our International Coed 5 team (Hi-5) was awarded a bid to the Cheerleading Worlds held at DisneyWorld. Which makes this the 6th consecutive year HOT will be competing at Worlds!
• Team facebook pages – In an effort to provide more avenues of communication, we created team Facebook pages for athletes and parents to stay in the know.
• Christmas classic – We had many parents spend many hours create costumes for our athletes to compete in at the Christmas Classic. This effort and the great spirit of our fans not only helped the teams all perform very well, but won our gym “Esprit de Vie” awards for every team, and pizza parties for our gym!
• Inaugural AMAZING competitors – Our teams qualified and participated in the 1st AMAZING competition. The parade of athletes, the banquet, and hip-hop sock hop, all helped make this event one of our most fun events of the season!
• WOW Awards – Congratulations to Danny and Taylor for being noticed among hundreds of athletes for your performances!
Looking Forward:
As we begin preparation for our upcoming tryouts and competitive season, we want to assure you that our staff will continue to dedicate itself to developing each of our athletes to their fullest potential. We are always striving to improve our program every season to ensure that your athlete is getting the most comprehensive instruction in the area. We are hiring new staff to increase knowledge and experience, and we are improving our facility to allow for safer and more effective training.
Our program will continue to create our teams based on the athletes’ true competitive level. At competitions we will also continue to place each team at the highest level they can successfully be competitive in all aspects of the score sheet. We will continue to compete at competitions that will challenge our athletes, because we realize that in order to be the best…you must compete against the best.
Finally:
We want to take the time to thank each of our families. It is because of your continued support that our program grows every year. It is your excitement and encouragements at all our events that make us know that we have the best parents, family, and friends! Thank you for motivating us to be our best and trusting us to push your athlete to accomplish their goals!
CHEERfully,
HOT Staff
